Daffodil Festival Book Event

It is almost daffodil time in Camden and we have reset the book event for Book and Frame Shop here. Our January date was canceled. What a great chance to meet folks from out of town as they come to our annual Daffodil Festival. The book signing will be from 2-4 pm on Friday, March 6th, at The Book and Frame Shop, 106 N. Washington St. Thanks Lynn for inviting me back at that time.

I hope to see local friends as well as make new friends from out of town. The festivities will last two days, Friday and Saturday, and there will be many vendors from many places lining our Camden streets. See you there!

Spring Book Events

It is time to schedule spring book events and I have three already set for March. On March 7th Mother and I will be at the public library in Minden, La. from 9-11:00 a.m. for a book review and signing. Then that afternoon from 1-3:00 pm we will be at Christian Life Tapes and Books, 8026 Jewella Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana.

On March 14th, we will have a book review and signing at the Louisiana State Cotton Museum, Plantation Hall, in Lake Providence, Louisiana, from 2-4:00 pm. The Museum will open especially for our event at 1:00 that day. Thanks so much Harriet for the invitation. I look forward to a fun day there....and a tour of the museum.

At this time I have ordered more books (I'm almost out) and am working on more events for festivals coming up in Arkansas and Louisiana this spring. Watch here for those dates and times. Camden, AR has a fun Daffodil Festival early March and Magnolia, AR, has a big Magnolia Blossom Festival in May. I hope to have several events scheduled soon in April as well.

Wonderful Weekend of Book Events

It was a wonderful weekend of book events in El Dorado. Mama came for both events and visited overnight in Camden. The book signing at Harrison's was great, and was very successful in sales as well as making new friends. After church this morning, we drove back to El Dorado for the Union Co. Genealogical Society meeting. There were over 35 people present, members and visitors. We had a great time reading some from our book, then answering questions about mama's life growing up during the depression, and much discussion. It truly was a fun time. Thanks to Martha Sue for inviting us.

Watch for an article in the El Dorado Times about these two events.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Our last book event for 2008 which took place in Ft. Scott, Kansas, was a success in spite of the very low temperatures. It was 28 degrees warm that morning; as we had had two mornings of close to zero with wind chills that were unbelievable. We made new friends and had much family support. It was a great day and a great visit with Niemeirs for the Christmas holidays.

With the coming of 2009, I have been requested to schedule a book event with the Union County Genealogical Society at the Barton Library in El Dorado, Arkansas. So, mother and I will be there at the January 11th meeting. I know these folks will be interested in hearing about the era in which my mother lived during the Great Depression and WWII. No doubt some of them will have lived through those hard times as well. She will be able to give them her perspective of rural life on the farm in North Louisina. We look forward to this book event and making new friends in that community.
